App Is ADS’s Word of the Year

App is officially the American Dialect Society’s Word of the Year. The American Dialect Society (ADS) voted last night on Word of the Year (WOTY), Most Useful Word of the Year, Most Creative Word of the Year, and several other categories. ADS has the longest-running WOTY contest and is the only one to do so without commercial interests.

Other category winners include:

  • Most Useful: nom
  • Most Creative: prehab
  • Most Likely to Succeed: trend
  • Least Likely to Succeed: culturomics

You can discover all the winners, nominees, and their definitions through the American Dialect Society.
